Sales isn’t supposed to be easy.
In fact, if it feels easy… you’re probably doing something wrong.

When I first started out, I used to think the “Best Sales Reps” had some magic formula.
That they landed deals because they had a deeper level of skill set or strategically knew how to do something I didn’t.

A mentor set me straight one day:

“Jon, sales is going to be hard. It’s hard for everyone. That’s why the rewards are so high.

Someone has to win… and remember it might as well be YOU.”

Something clicked.

Customers are busy. They’re going to ignore you. To me it’s expected now.
Your job? Be the one who makes doing business with you and your organization the easiest decision they make all day. Remember it’s challenging 😉

That means:

  • Smart work – know your accounts, prepare harder than anyone else, anticipate needs and strategically move business forward.
  • Effort-filled work – out-hustle and out-follow-up everyone else AND have more deals moving at once.
  • High EQ – read the room, build strategic relationships weekly, stay warm, stay human.
  • Relentless Attitude Adjustments – never quit just because it’s “hard.” Smile and keep finding a way.
