As of Monday, September 8, there are 17 business days left in Q3. Feeling the fatigue? You’re not alone. We ALL feel a bit tired and “gassed” this time of year.

A question came up the other day that made me smile: how are “no name” companies breaking through to our customers and stealing bits and pieces of market share?

I knew the answer instinctively. I smiled when I heard the question. I waited… and waited and then I shared by two cents. I said its because they are more HUNGRY!

Let that sink in for a minute… it might bother you and that’s ok.

When you’ve got nothing (no market share, business etc. you will stop a nothing to earn that business), you’ll do anything to win. I’ve been there. I’ve worked for market leaders and no name companies. The game is similar, but the playbook is slightly different.

Regardless of where you are today, If you want to keep winning in sales, keep building in on the basics:

  • Stay humble. Success is rented. The rent is due daily – Rory Vaden.
  • Beat fatigue. Find ways to pace yourself in the journey. Take a real day off if you need it.
  • Stay close to your customers. Ask better questions. Actually listen. How can we serve you better?
  • And MOST importantly – Be hungrier than your competition. How the heck did they sell that and get this product in this account? We ALL know the answer. They wanted it MORE.

That’s it. Simple to say. Harder to do. Worth it.

I’ll leave this with you… My pastor reminded us yesterday, “God is in your future.
Your best YOU, is in the future. The best version of you has not arrived yet.

So be encouraged, you are more mature, wise and HUNGRIER (hopefully) than you were last week.
