LAW #10 – Stay Hungry. Stay Humble. Never Stop Growing.

What's up, Relentless Fam! Happy Monday! 💪

Welcome to the final installment of our 10 Laws of High-Performance Selling series.

Over the past ten weeks, we've covered principles that have shaped my career and helped me become a better salesperson, leader, and person. My hope is that they've encouraged you throughout this series, not just in sales, but in every area of your life.

Before we jump in, thank you for the incredible support surrounding THE HUNT – A Sales Execution Plan for Sales Professionals. Seeing so many sales professionals reach out and beginning to implement the system is so encouraging.

Now… let's finish strong!

Staying Hungry

Patrick Lencioni wrote an outstanding book called The Ideal Team Player, where he highlights three qualities found in exceptional teammates: Humble, Hungry, and Smart. His work has greatly influenced my leadership philosophy and absolutely this final post.

The best salespeople I've ever worked with have many of things Lencioni writes about.

#1 They Stay Hungry

Staying Hungry is necessary and foundational for sales success. You gotta want it!!!

  • Don’t stop learning.
  • Make one more call.
  • Prepare better
  • Look for ways to improve every single week!

#2 Stay Humble

Hunger without humility eventually becomes a major problem.

Pride and ego are some of the biggest **watch outs** and areas of concerns for us salespeople. Sidenote: they also make for a terrible teammate (no one wants to be around them, including customers).

Pride and ego have cost more sales careers than a lack of ability ever has.

As I wrote in Relentless Sales:

"Humility is always the winning formula."

I believe that now more than ever now..

And Finally…

#3 Never Stop Growing

One of my mentors has always challenged me with this simple idea:

"Jon, Reinvent yourself every year." I’ll never forget his words.

That doesn't mean changing who you are.

It means continually improving who you're becoming.

Read another book.

Develop another skill.

Find another mentor & ask them to coffee or lunch.

Ask for real feedback (both positive and blind spots).

Recently, one of the young men I'm mentoring, Austin, shared all the books he's reading and the work he's doing to grow professionally and personally.

Honestly, he's way ahead of where I was at his age. I don’t know if I’m mentoring him or if he’s mentoring me! 😉

His hunger, humility, and commitment to growth inspired me.

And that's the mindset we should all strive for.

Final Thoughts

As we wrap up this series, remember this:

Great salespeople aren't built overnight.

They are built by Staying Hungry, Staying Humble & Never Stop growing.

If you've enjoyed this series and you're wondering how to put these principles into practice every week, that's exactly why I created THE HUNT.

Relentless Sales provides the mindset.

THE HUNT provides the execution system. Use HUNT20  if you want to save 20% before Aug 1st.

If you're ready to become more intentional with your time, your territory, and your customers, I'd love for you to check it out.
