Good Morning Relentless Fam,
Staying Calm and Calculated During Customer Interactions is critical to our success in sales.
We are in Week 3 of our 7-Week Sprint to Maximize Sales Effectiveness in 2026:
If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly juggling competing priorities, job pressures, and everyday stress. Staying calm in the middle of tough customer conversations isn’t always easy.
It’s called sales 😉
—
But here’s the truth:
Our job isn’t to make our customers world more chaotic…
Our job is to bring peace, solutions, and VALUE into it.
The best sales professionals are the calmest. The more steady and level-headed, the less needy and more likeable you become.
—
So how do we make calmness a superpower?
1. Humility Is the Foundation
“Humility is the soil where everything good in sales grows.”
Customers want to work with sales professionals who are confident, but not arrogant. Who are focused on their priorities first.
When we lead with humility and truly seek to understand our clients current reality we create & build trust. And trust creates opportunity.
—
2. Preparation Creates Calm
Calm isn’t accidental. It’s earned.
When you’ve put in the work, when you’ve prepared for both positive and negative outcomes you don’t panic when you are put in the fire. You pivot as needed to find the “win-win”.
Research your customers prior to your meetings. Learn about their world. Most people share more than enough publicly to give your insight before you ever walk into the room.
And don’t do it alone. Seek counsel from managers and teammates who’ve navigated similar situations. Wisdom + Preparation shortens the learning curve.
—
3. Win the Inner Game
And then there’s the mental side.
Building mental fortitude requires intentional peace. When you build yourself day-in & day-out you build toughness that will not wilt under pressure.
A few mantras I personally lean on:
- God is with me. God is helping me. God is guiding me.
- It’s hard to be nervous when your mind is on service.
- Take care of the customer, and everything else takes care of itself.
- Make it about them, not you.
- Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.
When your mind is calm, you can truly make an impact with your customers and on the bottom line.
—
What about you?
