No Plan, No Progress
“You can’t hit a target you never set.” — Relentless Sales, Chapter 7
One of the fastest ways to underperform in sales is simple: wing it.
I see it all the time. Good, hard-working salespeople starting the week full of energy and good intentions… but with no clear roadmap. They’re hustling—but busyness isn’t the same thing as progress.
Without a written plan, it’s impossible to know:
- Where you should spend your time
- Which accounts matter most
- What a “win” even looks like for the week … anxiety always in the background creeping in…
The truth is, effort without a CLEAR PLAN you will always be frustrated. Think hard work + smart work!
If you don’t have a plan, you’re not advancing your own priorities—you’re reacting to everyone else’s. And reaction-mode never leads to elite sales performance.
How to Avoid This Mistake:
✅ Begin with the end in mind.
Start with the number you need to hit—and work backward.
✅ Create your “Attack List.”
(Relentless Sales, Chapter 7)
Focus on the top 20% of accounts that will drive 80% of your results.
✅ Get your daily, weekly, and monthly rhythms right.
(Relentless Sales, Chapter 15)
Stack small, consistent actions that add up to big wins.
✅ Write it down.
If it’s not on paper (or in your digital plan), it doesn’t exist. *Create a Zoned Territory and download for free on my website.
Remember:
Sales success isn’t random.
It’s the result of a focused plan, executed daily with relentless discipline.
No plan = No progress.
You can’t hit a target you never set.
