Law #8 – Discipline Is a Skill. Train It Every Day.
One of the biggest myths in sales is that top performers are simply more talented or more motivated than everyone else.
I don't believe that's true. My first hand experience I know from personal first-hand experience).
In my experience, the best salespeople aren't necessarily the smartest or the most charismatic, they're simply the most disciplined.
They've trained themselves to do the little things consistently, especially when they don't feel like it.
While everyone else is searching for the next "silver bullet," elite salespeople keep mastering the fundamentals.
Here are ten disciplines I've consistently seen in the best of the best:
The 10 Disciplines of Elite Salespeople
- They Plan their week before Monday. Winning weeks don't happen by accident. **my schedule is to have my week planned before Monday AM.
- They Hunt every week. Prospecting consistently—not just when your pipeline is empty. When you alarm hits 8AM its time to call.
- They Prioritize the right accounts. Even when this means dealing with difficult problems first. They live the 80/20 Rule.
- They Protect their calendar. Schedule your priorities instead of prioritizing your schedule.
- They Follow up consistently with the appropriate cadence. They have high EQ. And are persistent at the right times.
- They Prepare for every customer interaction. Never wing it. – Always have a 1-pager to guide the conversation.
- They Keep a healthy pipelines. Great salespeople always prepare for the worst but expect the best.
- They Sharpen their sales skills. Read, practice, seek coaching, and keep learning. They are continuous learners.
- They Master the Next Play mentality. Don't let yesterday's loss affect today's opportunity.
- And finally… They Execute consistently. They know that Discipline beats motivation every time. And the cool things is, Discipline is a skill just like anything else. You can grow and get better in this area every day!
One of the biggest reasons I created THE HUNT was to help sales professionals build these disciplines into their weekly routine.

It's about creating a repeatable execution system that helps you identify the right opportunities, build a healthier pipeline, prioritize your time, and execute with consistency week after week.
